Member Spotlight: Joel Roach- Honda Volunteer of the Year Awards

At the Renegades, the heart and soul of our operations are powered by the dedication and passion of our volunteers. Without their tireless efforts, our club simply wouldn't be able to thrive as it does. From coaching staff and event organizers to those who manage the day-to-day logistics, our volunteers are the unsung heroes who keep the Renegades running smoothly.

One volunteer who has made a particularly profound impact on our club is our Treasurer, Joel. This year, we were incredibly proud to see Joel recognized as a finalist in the 2024 Honda Volunteer of the Year Awards in the Game Changer category—a testament to the remarkable contributions he has made.

Whilst he didn't end up taking home the final prize, the impact Joel has had on our Club has been immense. He has completely transformed our approach to sponsorship and partnerships, including introducing paid talks that we give to partner organisations to promote inclusion in rugby.

His approach to income generation has made it possible to subsidise costs for our members and ensure that money isn't a barrier for those wanting to participate in the Club.
